“ | Edwin’s not from around here, and he’ll make sure that nobody else stays around him in the city of London! Edwin has superior physical abilities, probably from years of experience destroying puny worlds like ours. His only weakness is that all that power has made him confident – Edwin is slow to cut loose with a Rampage. | ” |
— Official Rampage: Total Destruction description
|
Edwin is an invader and troll-like monster that made his first debut in Rampage: Total Destruction. He is one of 30 playable monsters (40 on the Nintendo Wii version). This is the only Rampage game he has appeared in.
Background[]
Edwin drank Scum Soda and had a violent reaction turning him a troll-like monster.
Abilities[]
He gains energy at half the normal rate so it takes longer for him to achieve Rampage mode.
Trivia[]
- It is unclear how the name "Edwin" is a pun on the concept of space invaders. One possible explanation is that it is a reference to British science fiction author Edwin Charles Tubb, known for writing Dumarest of Terra. Alternatively, it could simply be an inside joke for the developers.
- Edwin has the third highest "Jumping" Rating of all the Monsters in Rampage: Total Destruction. Only Fabio and Eyegore have higher ratings.
- Why Edwin is an Invader is unknown. The opening cut-scene implies that all who drank Scum Soda were human.
- Edwin resembles Stitch from Disney's 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch
- One fan in a Rampage Forum made the claim that Edwin was actually supposed to be an "Imp", not an "Invader". Whether there is any validity to this theory (and if so, why it was changed) is unclear.
- Arvin Bautista's concept art for Edwin has "Dick" in it's title. Whether Edwin's was originally named "Dick" is unknown. If that is the case, it could be that it was changed to "Edwin" to avoid potential issues of vulgarity. (Source: Freesuperheroes.com)
